Marriage Requirements Confirmed for 1.0

The official 1.0 patch notes establish this basic progression:

1. Date a romanceable NPC.
2. Raise that NPC to 10 Hearts. The 1.0 update increased the heart cap to 10.
3. See the 10-Heart proposal content. Proposal events were added for romanceable NPCs.
4. Receive the Engagement Ring recipe from Elsie. She delivers it the morning after you reach Heart Level 10 with an NPC you are dating.
5. Craft the Engagement Ring at a Forge. It becomes craftable once the 10-Heart dating condition is met.
6. Use the ring when you are ready to commit. The official notes say 10-Heart events can be retriggered with the ring until you choose to propose and become engaged.
7. Plan wedding details with your fiancé. Flower color, cake flavor, and reception meal are among the confirmed customizable choices.

The selected official sources do not give a single universal day-by-day schedule for every proposal route, so this guide does not invent one.

How to Get the Engagement Ring Recipe

The key trigger is reaching 10 Hearts with an NPC you are dating.

According to the 1.0 patch notes, Elsie delivers the recipe the following morning. Use the recipe scroll to unlock the Engagement Ring, which can then be crafted at a Forge.

This matters because older Early Access guides may stop at 8 Hearts or say marriage is unavailable. Those guides are now outdated for the 1.0 release.

Can You See Every 10-Heart Event Before Choosing a Spouse?

The official patch notes say the 10-Heart events can be retriggered with the Engagement Ring until you actually choose to propose and become engaged. They also note that it is possible to view all events and collect the associated NPC special items before making the final proposal decision, if that is how you want to play.

That gives you room to experience the new relationship content without immediately locking in an engagement.

What Can You Customize for the Wedding?

During wedding-planning dialogue with your fiancé in the days leading up to the wedding, the official notes confirm choices such as:

• flower color
• cake flavor
• meal served at the reception

Wedding events and wedding outfits were also added in 1.0.

What Happens to Other People You Were Dating?

By default, if you were dating multiple characters, the other dating relationships switch to Best Friends after engagement/marriage.

Fields of Mistria 1.0 also adds a gameplay setting that can disable the status change from Dating to Best Friends. The patch notes say this option becomes available through the engagement tutorial cutscene and must be toggled before confirming the engagement if you want it to take effect.

There is a separate option to disable the breakup letters and follow-up dialogue while leaving the status change itself in place. These are two different settings, so read the description carefully before confirming engagement.

Can You Marry Any Eligible Candidate Regardless of Gender?

Yes. The official Fields of Mistria FAQ states that marriage candidates are not locked by gender. You can marry any eligible romanceable villager regardless of the player character's gender.

What Changes After Marriage?

The 1.0 update adds:

• post-marriage dialogue
• post-marriage NPC routines
• the ability to interact with a married NPC to kiss them
• family-planning content for players who want children
