Fields of Mistria 1.0 Guide: Everything New in the Full Release
A practical guide to the Fields of Mistria 1.0 update, including new systems, old-save changes, relationships, town progression, and what to do first.
Fields of Mistria 1.0 adds marriage, children, 10-heart proposal events, the completed Town Repair storyline, Renown Level 100 and Mistril Rank, new Saturday Market vendors, a completable Museum, Steam achievements, and more. Existing saves carry over, and achievements can be awarded retroactively after loading them.
Quick summary
Fields of Mistria 1.0 is a full-release content update, not a reset. NPC Studio's launch notes add the end of the town-repair story, a Renown cap of 100, the Mistril Town Rank event, 10-heart proposal events, weddings, marriage, children, new Saturday Market content, a completable Museum, Steam achievements, new perks, cosmetics, and beta localizations.
You do not need to start a new save. Existing Main-branch saves carry into 1.0, and the official notes say achievements can be awarded retroactively after you load an existing save.
What is new in 1.0?
Romance, proposal, and marriage
NPC heart caps now reach 10. Romanceable villagers receive 10-heart proposal events, followed by wedding events and marriage. The official FAQ also confirms that eligible marriage candidates are not locked by gender.
The Engagement Ring becomes craftable at a Forge after you reach 10 Hearts with a villager you are dating. Elsie delivers the recipe the morning after reaching Heart Level 10. You can use the 10-heart event and the ring to see the special-event content before committing to a proposal.
Wedding planning also has choices. The patch notes call out customizable flower color, cake flavor, and the meal served at the reception. Treat the wedding as a multi-step progression rather than an instant menu choice.
Children
Children are part of the 1.0 family system. The official FAQ says the player has full control over whether or not to have a baby, so you are not forced to start a family after marriage.
Town Repair and Renown
The Town Repair Questline can now be completed. The Renown cap rises to 100, and the Mistril Town Rank event is added. The update also adds more Request Board content and Museum sets and rewards.
If you return to an old save, start with the town board, current repair objectives, and your Town Rank guide. The new cap and end-of-story events are progression layers on top of your existing town rather than a reason to abandon the farm.
Saturday Market
Stillwell and Zorel join the Saturday Market:
- Stillwell unlocks Mission Quests through his Mission Board.
- Zorel sells Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, which let you customize music on the farm and in home rooms.
- The 1.0 content also adds the Saturday Market Plaza quest.
The market additions are easy to miss if you only visit vendors you already know. Visit the market after the relevant quest unlocks and speak to the new stalls.
Museum and collections
The Museum can now be completed, with additional sets and rewards. The 1.0 achievement list includes separate milestones for the Legendary Fish Set, Legendary Insect Set, and full Museum completion, so collectors should treat the Museum as a long-term checklist rather than a one-time donation screen.
Skills, house, and customization
The patch adds seven perks across Cooking, Ranching, and Woodcrafting. It also adds more furniture, decor, cosmetics, mount skins, and house-exterior customization after the house is fully upgraded. NPC Studio's notes say a letter from Landen unlocks the house-exterior option in the Carpenter's Shop after the final house upgrade.
Achievements and language support
Steam achievements arrive with 1.0. The official notes say they populate retroactively from existing save data after you load it. The initial beta localization wave includes Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish; the official FAQ notes that these translations are still being refined.
What to do first on an old save
- Update the game and back up your save. If you use mods, update or remove them before loading the new engine and 1.0 content.
- Load the save once and wait for the new mail and achievement processing. Give Steam time to synchronize before assuming an achievement was missed.
- Open the Town Rank and Request Board screens. Check the Renown cap, repair progress, and new requests.
- Visit the Saturday Market. Look for Stillwell, Zorel, and the Plaza quest.
- Check romance progress. A dating character at 10 Hearts can unlock the Engagement Ring path.
- Review Museum completion. New sets and the completion milestone are part of the 1.0 endgame.
- Choose your family route deliberately. Marriage and children are new progression, but the FAQ confirms that having a baby is optional.
Do old saves work?
Yes. NPC Studio's 1.0 announcement says all saves carry over, and the FAQ says you do not need a new save for achievements. If you prefer to experience achievement pop-ups from a blank history, create a new save instead; that is a preference, not a requirement.
Platform and version note
The official FAQ lists Windows PC and Steam Deck compatibility. This guide targets the 1.0 release line and should be rechecked after later patches because 1.0 is the beginning of the post-launch update cycle.
